COVID-19 Safety Guidelines

COVID-19 Safety Guidelines for Norman & Annette Rothstein Theatre Visitors

The Norman & Annette Rothstein Theatre is thrilled to welcome you back to in-person performing arts experiences. We have worked with industry experts and the most current guidance and recommendations of local, provincial, and federal health authorities to create a comfortable environment in which community safety is our highest priority. Our professional front of house, technical, and facilities staff will clean and disinfect the venue before, during, and after your visit. This information will be continuously updated with any new information or guidelines.

Please do not attend any in-person events if you:

Have any of the following symptoms:

Have traveled outside of Canada in the past 14 days

Are a close contact of a person who has tested positive for COVID-19

We recommend all ticketholders take the BC COVID-19 Self-Check prior to arrival to ensure that they are not exhibiting any symptoms of COVID-19.

Before you arrive:

Arrive Early:

Doors open 30 minutes prior to show time, so arrive with plenty of time to settle in. This will allow us to safely check in all audience members and help you make your way to your seat without congestion in the lobby or aisles. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to make the experience comfortable for everyone. Please note that we are unable to open the doors early to accommodate patrons who arrive prior to the designated time.

Wear a Mask:

We require you to wear a mask at all times unless seated in the theatre. Masks are recommended while seated in the theatre, but may be removed if you wish.

Follow the Arrows:

One-way traffic flow is marked in red arrows throughout the venue. Follow the arrows through the theatre to your seat. If you need to visit the washroom or the lobby bar, follow the arrows to the atrium exit doors, then re-enter when you’re ready by the main entrance doors.

Maintain Your Distance:

For the safety of everyone, including fellow patrons, venue staff, volunteers, and artists, please maintain a distance of 2m (~6ft) from others who are not in your bubble. Follow all signage and floor markers that have been placed to aid in keeping to a safer distance.

Maintain Hand Hygiene

Hand sanitizing stations are available throughout the venue, and a handwashing station is available before entering the building. Help us stop the spread by washing or sanitizing your hands.

Check-in Process:

No physical tickets are necessary for entry. Our box office staff will check in each group and collect contact tracing information. Please be prepared to provide your name and contact information and to sign a Waiver of Liability.

Washroom Access:

All shows will be performed without an intermission. Should you require a washroom, usher staff will assist you in exiting the theatre and directing you to lobby facilities. Please remember to wear your mask when out of your seat. Washroom capacity is limited, so you may be asked to wait in a designated area. Reseating is at the discretion of venue staff, and you may be asked to return to a different seat than your original location. Your cooperation is appreciated.

Exiting the Theatre:

At the end of the show, kindly remain in your seat until a venue staff member has indicated that it is safe for your row to exit. We will assist rows from back to front along both aisles to ensure that contact between patron groups is minimized. We appreciate your assistance with this process, and remind you that a mask should be worn when leaving your seat.

Thank you for doing your part to make in-person events in this difficult time a safer and enjoyable experience for everyone. Please note that our team reserves the right to remove any individual found to be non-compliant with our Health and Safety policies and procedures.
